What is Chandi Puja?
Chandi Puja is one of the most powerful and spiritually intense rituals in the Shakta tradition of Sanatan Dharma. It is dedicated to Maa Chandika Devi, the fierce and compassionate form of Durga, who annihilates evil, protects devotees, and restores dharma. This puja involves the sacred recitation of the Devi Mahatmyam (Durga Saptashati), which describes the divine battles and victories of the Goddess over demons like Mahishasura, Shumbha, Nishumbha, and Rakta Beej.
The Chandi Havan, performed alongside the puja, is a fire ritual that channels the energy of the sacred mantras into the universe to burn away negativity, black magic, fear, and karma blocks. It is known to awaken immense inner power and transform life situations in miraculous ways.
Who Should Perform Chandi Puja and Havan?
Chandi Puja is especially recommended for those facing spiritual, emotional, karmic, or worldly challenges, such as:
• Constant obstacles in business, career, or family matters
• Suffering from black magic, evil eye, or unknown blockages
• Victims of injustice, false allegations, or defamation
• Women facing fertility issues, emotional trauma, or depression
• Individuals under the influence of Shani, Rahu, Ketu, or planetary doshas
• Families affected by Pitru dosh, Vastu defects, or ancestral karmas
• Devotees who wish to awaken Kundalini, enhance spiritual power, or begin serious sadhana
This puja is also highly effective when performed during Navratri, Amavasya, Chaitra, Ashwin, or after any long period of suffering.
Why is Chandi Havan So Powerful?
The Chandi Havan acts as a spiritual furnace that burns away tamas (ignorance), fear, karmic patterns, and enemy vibrations. When the mantras of the Durga Saptashati are offered into the fire with samidha, herbs, ghee, and other sacred items, a divine energy is released that penetrates the astral world and removes obstacles at the root level.
Unlike general pujas, Chandi Anushthan requires strict ritualistic discipline, correct pronunciation of mantras, and deep spiritual sankalpa (intention). At Siddhavaani, this is done under the sacred supervision of Pandit Tapan Kumar Panda ji, who has years of experience in performing high-level Shakti Sadhanas.
How is Chandi Puja & Havan Performed?
The Chandi ritual is a multi-step and multi-day puja, which may be performed over 1, 3, 5, or 9 days depending on the devotee’s intention and astrological requirements. The steps include:
Sankalpa (Spiritual Commitment)
A vow is taken on behalf of the devotee (you or your family), stating the purpose of the puja—be it for protection, success, health, or liberation.
Kalash Sthapana and Navagraha Puja
The sacred pot and planetary deities are invoked to align cosmic energies in favour of the puja. This step purifies the surrounding environment.
Ganapati and Devi Invocation
Lord Ganesha is worshipped first to remove obstacles, followed by invoking Maa Durga in her Chandi form through Vedic and Tantric mantras.
Durga Saptashati Path (700 Verses Recitation)
The full chanting of the 13 chapters of the Durga Saptashati is performed from the Markandeya Purana, containing mantras like “Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu…” and “Aigiri Nandini”.
Chandi Havan (Fire Ritual)
Each verse or mantra is offered into the sacred fire with ghee, black sesame, herbs, and other prescribed items. This process removes Drishti dosha (evil eye), Bhoot-Pret badha (spirit disturbances), and strengthens the aura of the devotee.
Offering of 108 or 1000 Lotus Petals (optional)
Special rituals are performed for devotees wishing to receive specific boons, especially related to childbirth, healing, or legal victories.
Devi Kavacham, Argala, and Keelakam
These powerful sections of the Saptashati act as spiritual codes that unlock energy blocks, grant divine protection, and stabilise the benefits of the puja.
Purnaahuti and Aarti
The final oblation is offered to complete the Havan, followed by lighting lamps and offering Maa Chandi Aarti with deep devotion and gratitude.
Prasad and Blessings
After the puja, devotees receive sanctified Prasad, Devi Raksha Sutra (protective thread), energised red cloth, and mantra guidance for continued worship at home.
